Mili/Stafilos This is the easiest hike on the programme, except for the beginning! It takes us round the edge of Mili hamlet, along a stream bed and through olive groves. We then have to cross over an asphalt road to get to an area where I once saw the largest Mediterranean moth. I keep going back in case I get to see it again! In the same area, there are, (amongst other things) a couple of cherry trees which are usually laden with fruit. We arrive at Stafilos beach where, depending upon the weather, we can either have a snack and swim or just a coffee. We return on foot via the Old Road. Meet: Outside the sea-side entrance to
Sophie & Takis (Del Sol) at 10am |

If you partner or friends are not walkers they can meet up with us at the Peparethos taverna at around 8:30 PM when we return! |
Mini Hike (Evening) After climbing through the back streets we take one of the oldest cobbled paths on the island that leads onto a winding dirt road high above the town, from where you get a birds-eye view of the harbour, across to Alonissos and over to the Stafilos valley. In August we may visit a working prune oven if it is convenient for the farmer. Later we take a rest before continuing down into a valley where at certain times of year we can collect walnuts. Continuing through olive groves we reach a secluded track that takes us to the back of the ring road. We finish the walk just by the Peparethos tavern (nearly opposite the Aperiton Hotel) where we can go for refreshments and/or dinner. Meet: 5.30 pm outside the National
Bank, Paralia |
